Sarah Wilson secures a place in GB team for World Biathle Championships
Sarah Wilson headed to Salford last weekend and secured a place in the Great Britain team for the World Biathle Championships in Georgia.
The 14-year-old Team Bath athlete from Batheaston will be among the leading contenders for a medal at the British Championships just outside Manchester having already won two main competitions this season at Millfield and Cheltenham.
Sarah who is also a member of the new Bath Pentathlon Club, is the daughter of Lucknam Park’s estate manager Andrew Wilson. She stands a great chance of making the podium for the event which for her youth age group comprises a 500m run followed directly by a 100m swim and then straight out of the pool for a final 500m run.
But the prize of representing Great Britain comes with a caveat as in biathle the athletes have to fund the trip themselves and a journey to the depths of Eastern Europe clearly doesn’t come cheap.
